The funders are Tatsumi Hijikata and Kazuo Ono. Nowadays even though it has developped into an established form of dance, the practice of Butoh is diverse in styles – each individual practitioner has their own unique style. Personally butoh, for me, is a research into finding ones own dance as well as a fundamental way of existing in this world.<\/p>\n This series of classes focuses on improvisation and composition based on butoh as well as other genres of movement practices. It starts with building awareness and strength which is indispensable in finding ones own dance. (Opening up the senses and physical channels, sharpening the imaginations and fortifying the determinations.)<\/p>\n And subsequently the class progresses to the exploration of how to ascertain what is there, what is communicating, inviting to play, what is there to destroy, throw away or to nuture in the moment of dance, in the aim of building ones own original skills to improvise and compose.<\/p>\n People from all backgrounds are welcome, and experieces in movement practice are not required. However the participants should have motivation.
